Jason Motes, EdD
Jason founded VALiDITEA in 2023 after a successful career in leadership roles in three Fortune 100 companies. Also serving as a Captain in the U.S. Navy, his corporate and military leadership experiences led him to pursue his passion for Leadership and Organizational Development.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Saint Louis University and was commissioned as a Naval Officer through the U.S. Navy’s Officer Candidate School in 2001. He served on active duty for nearly a decade, leading troops in operations before deciding to transition into the reserves to pursue a career in corporate America.
After earning his MBA, he began his business career in medical device sales at Medtronic, working alongside trauma surgeons in the operating room. He continued his career at Johnson & Johnson (J&J), leading multiple teams to deliver advanced therapeutic solutions in several multi-state regions. During his successful tenure at J&J, he led Sales, Marketing, and Education teams, launched major programs, developed learning content, presented at conferences, served on leadership councils, and Co-Chaired J&J’s Veteran Employee Resource Group. He further diversified his career at Honeywell, leading several hundred operations personnel to execute major business projects throughout the U.S., Canada, and abroad. At Honeywell, he co-developed a new business strategy, redesigned his organizational structure, overhauled HR policies, hired numerous veterans and diverse talent, and focused intently on improving employee morale by establishing career promotional pathways and driving personnel development.
As a Naval Officer, he’s led troops in operational units across the globe. He continues to serve at a high level as a Commanding Officer, serving on promotion boards, chairing qualification boards, and facilitating national recruiting efforts. He has completed six overseas deployments, most recently as the Commander of a major Task Group and as the Operations Officer at one of the Navy’s forward-deployed Fleets.
Jason earned a doctorate in Organizational Change and Leadership at the University of Southern California and two master's degrees at Creighton University. He is a proud member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and the Atlanta, Georgia, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, chapters of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM).
When he is not developing leaders in the classroom or coaching to improve performance, he enjoys reading, writing, spending time with family, and swimming, cycling, and rowing.
